Thank you for booking with Tot Shots.  I am truly honoured that you have chosen me to document these special times in your children’s lives!  I have put together some information to help you prepare and know what to expect from your photo shoot with me.  Please note I am here to help you with everything throughout the process.  If you have any questions about anything or would like my opinion, please do not hesitate to ask.

Before Your Shoot

In order for me to best prepare and meet your expectations for the photo shoot, I like to determine what these expectations are. The online form that was sent with this document will ask specific questions so that I can learn about your expectations as well as a little about your family.  This will help me to plan your session accordingly and ensure that we achieve your goal!

I am available for an in-studio or phone consult if you have any questions or would like my opinion on anything. Please call (403.701.0106) to arrange.

What to Wear

I like to know what your family will be wearing prior to the session so that I can take this into consideration as I plan our session.  It is best that everyone be in coordinated tones (either light or dark).   This does not mean that you have to match the colours exactly though.  I have included a variety of ideas of what other families have chosen within my galleries on my website and blog.  If you are having trouble deciding please go through these galleries and see if there is a style similar to your own, what works well with your colouring, what are you most comfortable in, … Many clients, if they do not have time for a pre-consult meeting, will send me pictures of their outfits in advance to get my opinion.  I am happy to help.

At Your Shoot

My sessions are relaxed in order to capture the personalities of your children and the relationships that you have with them. I will begin the session with “posed” family shots (these are important for the relatives), proceeding with pictures of the children with each parent and then will capture the more “candid”, fun shots of your children (separate and together if there are more than one). If there are specific poses that you would like to do, please let me know as the session begins.  On location I will do some posed shots but I will also capture moments from a photojournalistic point of view.  I think that it is nice to incorporate things that the children like to do.

I shoot a ton of pictures… you may be looking and you may not be.  Sometimes I will direct you and other times I may be capturing a moment.  When I present your online gallery to you, I typically include at least 40-70 pictures.  I include as many as are usable – every family’s session is different. Some of them may just be funny pictures that I think that parents will enjoy (of course, these then seem to be most popular).

I have found that by me talking to the children, singing favourite songs and sometimes just being silly, I am able to get excellent results.  Any information about the children’s interests that you can provide me with prior to the session is much appreciated.  The most important thing is that the parents are relaxed.  The children (even newborns) sense this.  I want you to come and have fun and leave the rest to meJ.

Location sessions typically last an hour to an hour and a half.

After Your Shoot

Once the session is complete, I will have your online gallery available between 10-14 days after the shoot. You are welcome to look at your pictures at your leisure and to share your gallery with friends and family.

Order Process

Due to scheduling and allocating time to all of my clients, I do ask that order are placed within two weeks of the gallery being posted.  Extensions will be subject to a fee of $50.

There are two options for ordering:

-      If you know what you would like to order you/your family members can submit orders through the online system.

-      If you are considering wall art, an order session is scheduled with me approximately a week after you have received your gallery.  This meeting can be held in the studio or at your home.  The dates that I have remaining will be given to you at your session so that you can book this in as soon as possible.

The studio is equipped with a projection system so that we can easily view and narrow down your choices.  You will also be able to better visualize sizes and see how images can work together.  If you know where you will be placing art from our session, it is advised that you send me a picture of this space as well as the dimensions.  I will then put together custom ideas for this space.  This image can be sent before our session so that I can be working on ideas throughout the process.

I work with a custom framer and have many examples of his work in the studio.

Payment For Your Shoot

A deposit of the applicable session fee is due at the time of booking. I will send a Paypal request and hold your session for 5 days. Your session time will be released if payment has not been made within those 5 days. If you would prefer to use an alternate means of payment, please let me know.

Upon placing an order an invoice will be sent and payment can be arranged. Payment plans are available for large orders.

Archival of Your Shoot

The images from your shoot will be saved for a period of one year.  You are welcome at anytime over the year to place subsequent orders.

I am looking forward to working with you and your family and I look forward to the opportunity to capture your children’s lives!
