Creative itch04.25.14

This time of year always brings about a bit of a creative itch…I think that it is heightened by the fact that I am not working full-time right now.  I am not very good at not working full-time as I have always had a job or 2 from the time that I was 13.  I like to work…it is just in me to work…especially at a job that I adore.  This extra time as a creative always leaves me with pages and pages in my notebook of things that I would like to do or try…then busy season hits or I talk myself out of them.  Well, it is time to get out there and do it.

After a long run (my best and most cohesive planning occurs on my runs), I came home and promptly sent a note to this client to see if I they would allow me to take over their house and use their adorable children as models for my idea.  I have had this concept shoot in my mind since I stopped by their new house to work on art last summer.  The amazing architectural features in their place coupled with their adorable models has had my mind spinning for over 6 months:)  Maybe I have been reading too many Parents magazines or something too:)  When I was visiting, I was fully enamored with their little one making a snack for herself, cheerios and milk being sent everywhere and the theme of “Joyful Chaos” came to mind.  I tend to be too much a control freak and a little too Type A in my own house sometimes so I thoroughly enjoy seeing when parents are awesomely laid back…it inspires me to be moreso.

The images for this shoot will be added to a commercial photography website that I am in the process of launching specializing in children.  It is just an extension of things that I have always done (Cherry Four, Pedalheads, Sportball, Alberta Children’s Hospital,…) but I have decided to split it off to a separate website as the markets are different.  Amazingly enough…when you put stuff out there things start to happen.  I was asked to do a shoot for a Lifestream campaign that I completed this week.  I will share more as I have things up and running.

I know Mom and Dad here have been waiting patiently for a sneak peek, so on to the images.  Thank you so much M family for allowing me to use your gorgeous home and models.  And the pillow shot…yep, got that one in the face so had to include:)calgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographer
