Seeing a project come together11.19.14

I love watching a project come together and was so excited to stop by a client’s house to see how this one turned out. Although I was stopping by to grab a couple of pictures of the art projects that we have been working on this year, I got a little sidetracked. This little cutie’s favourite pastime is to pile all of the pillows from around the house and jump on them. So, I had to capture that…you can see my art in the background but this was so much more fun:). Love that we captured this little extra of his pastime, his energy and his bedhead:).

I was extremely honoured to have learned from this client that a professional from the art hanging service commented that it was one of the nicest photo walls he had ever seen as far as the layout, composition and quality of photographs. This is a huge compliment to me as they hang art for many of the galleries, museums and a number of my clients:).

I have been promising to share some of the wall art ideas that I have been doing over the last little while so thought I should finally get on it. I will try to be better at sharing as I do them going forward to help give you ideas of how to use your images. I know I have missed sharing many from this year as they have already been archived but this will give you a few ideas anyway.  calgary family photographer

This is a mock up for a frame collage going up at a client’s place. We have used images that we have done together from the last six years (as well as including a couple of wedding photos – the blank ones since I did not do them:). We have used silver frames in this case to tie in with the hardware and light fixtures used.  It also gave a really nice, soft look to this newborn/family arrangement. We have left room to add on in the future but also balanced to be aesthetically pleasing now. Wow, I wish I could incorporate this blue into my house:).

Similarly to the first arrangement, this family will be adding on over time with our future shoots. Love how we have been able to include tidbits of each of their relationships and details:).

I am excited to see this canvas collage come together as colours from their outfits tie into accessories from this room.  This is one thing that I like to plan for if you know where you will be placing art as it can really bring a room together.

These canvas shots over a piano are just a fun collection over the past couple of years.  We will continue to add favourite shots from future sessions.  I think that the kids will love looking at themselves as they are practicing:).

We did a few walls in this client’s house  and varied the medium and type of “pose” depending on the formality of the space…love that even in a more formal area they still choose one of my favourite playful images:).

A couple of other client’s have also allowed me to share arrangements that they have done themselves.  Love them!  Not all of the photos are mine.

If you have ideas that you would like to share, of how you have used our images, please forward to me and I will try to be more on the ball about sharing more regularly:).

What I have been working on12.15.13

So I have been a little MIA on the blog but have been working hard to get a bunch of Christmas presents ready for clients.  I have not finished blogging sessions for the last part of this year but will go back once we are through the holiday rush.  I have been working a bunch of walls for a number of clients and wanted to share a couple with you to give you ideas of what you can do with your images.  The first is a 24×48 metal wrap that I completed recently.  It is absolutely stunning in person.  My quick picture will not do it justice but will be getting a color image done for the studio so that I can show you this medium more closely.  I have a black and white image currently in the studio but the colour image was absolutely stunning.

The next image is custom wall mock ups that was done for a client.  These are framed images that tie into the decor of her place (the black pieces is furniture in this room).  Hopefully I will be able to follow up with what the finished wall looks like.

I have a bunch more of these projects that I will be sharing over the next little while.  I have recently changed computers and this is all I have on this one:)  So more soon!

Hope everyone is getting through the holiday rush!

A client recently shared her wall of my photos that we have done over the years.  She has done a great job putting it together so thought that I would share.  calgary family photographer wall art

Wall Art | Calgary\California Family photographer03.19.13

Last year I finally decided to join Pinterest.  I had avoided it for a long time as the last thing that I needed was one more thing to do on the computer.  However, it has definitely been beneficial from a personal and business standpoint.  With wall art being such a large part of my business it only makes “business” sense to be on there looking for ideas:).  It does make it much easier for clients to narrow down their design taste and then we can customize to their space and images.

As I was looking through ideas for clients, I came across pictures of this wall.  LOVE it…could not get it out of my head.  So a few months ago, I started to pull together my favourite pictures from last year.  Rather than fill the entire wall at once, I decided to leave room to add on as I go…but still have it aesthetically pleasing as I go.  You can only imagine how staring up at this wall as I work, brings me so much joy.  These little guys bring me so much happiness and now our times together and the adventures we are having are staring back at me (…or screaming in some cases:) as a constant reminder.
