Quick follow up – Calgary Children's Photographer08.17.09

I just wanted to follow up this morning with an update on “Comments for the Cure” last week. I received about 50 comments between what was posted on my blog and received through email. I have doubled this and donated to the CIBC Run for the Cure to kick it off. Thank you for all of your comments and kicking the new blog off. I am planning on doing another day of Comments at the end of September once the new blog has returned to regular traffic levels. Oh, I figured out the Subscribe by Email button this weekend so if you are interested in receiving information on my blog posts (without having to check back all of the time), please subscribe here. More soon!

Adorable 3 month old – Calgary Baby Photographer08.14.09

This final “Comment for the Cure” post is going out a little late today. I got distracted taking my children to the Science Centre this morning (always a favourite place to go!). I wanted to give mom and dad of this little one a sneak peek before they head out on vacation and I wanted to give you one more opportunity to comment over the weekend. I will have another “Comment for the Cure” week in September.

This little guy is about 3 and a half months old. And although there are a lot of ages that I love, this stage is particularly near and dear to my heart. The “signature” picture that I use on the entrance to my website and on my business cards is of my son at this age. I love the interaction, the rolls, the drool, the toothless grins, finding their toes,… We ended up playing him right out and were able to capture him zonked out! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend (despite the weather that we are having in Calgary).

So thrilled when we were able to capture the unique way he sucks his thumb!

Pedalheads – Calgary Children Photographer08.13.09

My son attended a couple of camps this summer (Sportball and Pedalheads) and had a blast! He LOVES riding his bike and it was finally time to take the training wheels off. I was a little scared about helping him with this and my husband does not get a lot of time…so when a girlfriend told me about Pedalheads, I registered him right away. This is where I figured my son would listen to someone else better than me – I was right. The first day at the camp…he was riding around without his training wheels! Now, two weeks later…he is BURNING around the neighbourhood without them! He was joining me for some of my runs and now I don’t know that I will be able to keep up! The children also learned about bike safety, played games like bike bowling, water balloon fights with the instructors, and “slip and slide” on the last day! So fun! My child, who is typically quite shy, had a blast!
Here are a few pictures from this experience. If you are looking for fun camps or activities during the year, I highly recommend both of these – I believe that Sportball runs throughout the year.

Sisters – Calgary Family Photographer08.11.09

I mentioned in a previous post that I wanted to wait for the new blog to post more from this session.  Look at how fun and big the pictures are…now this was the reason for me to get a new blog.  Well worth it!  I had a blast during this session.  It is such a treat to work with older children.  We worked with a bunch of different setups (because we could).  Now they may not love that I included a few of the interaction pictures but there is no doubt that I was going to.  That is exactly what I was shooting for.  I love when people finally feel relaxed enough to let their hair down so we can get these shots!

Comments for the Cure! – Calgary Children Photographer08.10.09

Calgary Children Photographer

As I roll out my new blog and website I would like to kick it off by encouraging comments (it is now really easy to do with this new blog).  I have chosen comments so that I can receive feedback on my work and so I don’t feel like I am talking to myself;).    So for every comment that I receive this week, I will donate $1 for the CIBC Run for the Cure that I will be participating in on October 4th.  If you follow my blog, you know that my mum passed away from Breast Cancer over 2 years ago.  This year has been the first year that I have been able to muster up enough strength to attempt to do this 5km run in October.  I am not a runner however I have been running three times a week since April in an attempt to get myself ready physically for this run.  I set up a Tot Shots team (https://www.cibcrunforthecure.com/html/select_site.asp) and so if you need something to do on October 4th, I encourage you to come out and join me.  I will be sending a note out this week to all of my friends and family to get them to join or support.  Please note that you do not need to run, there is also an option of a 1km walk.  I don’t need to mention what a great cause this is as so many of us have been affected by this disease in some way.

Information will also be going out this week on fall bookings, the last Tot Shots Social Series event of the year and more sneak peeks.  I apologize that I got behind due to website/blog overhaul that needed to take place unexpectedly.  If you are interested in a fall/Christmas booking  (and have not already spoken to me about it), please send a note through the contact form and I will add you to the email list.

Now, I think that you will still be able to see the old blog for a little while if you are interested…http://totshots.typepad.com.

I have to start my new blog with a picture of two of my mum’s favourite things!  I took this picture a few weeks ago to finally fill the wall above my desk in the studio with the perfect moment of my children.  This is now a 16×26 gallery-wrap canvas that I get to look at everyday and is very representative of both of my children!  It seems that I am still having issues with picture placement.  Hopefully I will figure this out this week as I post sneak peeks that have been promised.
