Sneak peek05.29.14

I wanted to get a little sneak peek up for this family.  This is the first time that I have met them and thoroughly enjoyed working with this family.  Their children as just as sweet as they are adorable.  B family is was fantastic to meet you and I will have more up as soon as possible!

That was going to be the end of my post until I continued to scroll through the images from the session and found this “Dancing on Your Head” picture and thought that it was so fun I had to share.  Love the expressions!

Creative itch04.25.14

This time of year always brings about a bit of a creative itch…I think that it is heightened by the fact that I am not working full-time right now.  I am not very good at not working full-time as I have always had a job or 2 from the time that I was 13.  I like to work…it is just in me to work…especially at a job that I adore.  This extra time as a creative always leaves me with pages and pages in my notebook of things that I would like to do or try…then busy season hits or I talk myself out of them.  Well, it is time to get out there and do it.

After a long run (my best and most cohesive planning occurs on my runs), I came home and promptly sent a note to this client to see if I they would allow me to take over their house and use their adorable children as models for my idea.  I have had this concept shoot in my mind since I stopped by their new house to work on art last summer.  The amazing architectural features in their place coupled with their adorable models has had my mind spinning for over 6 months:)  Maybe I have been reading too many Parents magazines or something too:)  When I was visiting, I was fully enamored with their little one making a snack for herself, cheerios and milk being sent everywhere and the theme of “Joyful Chaos” came to mind.  I tend to be too much a control freak and a little too Type A in my own house sometimes so I thoroughly enjoy seeing when parents are awesomely laid back…it inspires me to be moreso.

The images for this shoot will be added to a commercial photography website that I am in the process of launching specializing in children.  It is just an extension of things that I have always done (Cherry Four, Pedalheads, Sportball, Alberta Children’s Hospital,…) but I have decided to split it off to a separate website as the markets are different.  Amazingly enough…when you put stuff out there things start to happen.  I was asked to do a shoot for a Lifestream campaign that I completed this week.  I will share more as I have things up and running.

I know Mom and Dad here have been waiting patiently for a sneak peek, so on to the images.  Thank you so much M family for allowing me to use your gorgeous home and models.  And the pillow shot…yep, got that one in the face so had to include:)calgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographer

Contentment04.17.14

I have had the honour of working with this family since their eldest daughter was born.  I love that I have gotten to see from the first baby anxiety to the third baby contentment.  I find that as families grow there is this level of peace, completeness and, of course, experience.  It is really neat to watch from my perspective.  Thank you B family for allowing me to document your children’s lives:).  Oh, and the last one is just to keep it real…3 children under the age of 6 is busy and chaotic at times:).

Scheduling02.21.14

The past couple of weeks have been a scheduling frenzy.  I am super excited about the shoots that are coming up this year!  I wanted to post a couple more of the dates for the year.  I will reiterate what I have remaining as well as let you know the new session times that are available moving into the fall…we still need some spring and summer though:).

- April 11-13

- May 23rd

- June 19-22

- August 21-24

- September 19-27 inclusive – only a few sessions remaining

I am still working through the logistics for July but hope to have more information soon.

Thank you to all of the “on the ball” clients that are forcing me to be a better planner:).  Please note, if you are more like me and a little more last minute, please feel free to send me a note and let me know that you are considering a session this year.  We can narrow a date down from there.

One from recently…I am currently in Calgary missing these three…but getting a ton done!:)

GF, fun family sport time, missing teeth and hair beards/moustaches01.29.14

This is one of my best girlfriends and her adorable little family.  We have typically done studio sessions in the past…they are not studio people:).  They are an extremely active family from skating to tobogganing to yoga to skiing to running to soccer to hockey…  So I was thrilled when they asked to do a tobogganing session in December.  Well, December got away on us so we rescheduled for January.  Then after copious amounts of snow, the weather decided to warm up significantly the week prior to our session…melting much of the hill we were planning on using.  No worries…we will pick another sport…skating.  Well, wouldn’t you know, we also happened to pick one of the warmest winter days…13 degrees.  No worries, her husband takes care of the ice at the rink we were using… so out came the zamboni…ice was too slushy for that too.  Anyway…we made it work.  There were not as many twirls and jumps as we had planned but had a ton of fun all the same…really capturing this family as they should be…outside:)
