Adorable family12.13.16

So I have been a TERRIBLE blogger over the fall and really over this entire year…I am going to try to correct that over the next few weeks (while my daughter is out of some of her bazillion activities…but that is another story) and go back and share a ton of the sessions that I have had of adorable families. Thought I would start way back in Aug with one of the most adorable families that I got to shoot this year…and I am not only saying that because they are related to me but because they really are this adorable:). This is my cousin and his family…their kids are not only adorable on the outside and brimming with family resemblance but they are so full of spirit and personality that it has ended up being one of my favourite sessions all year:).

Fall is here!10.05.16

In fact it is probably getting close to being over in Calgary…just showing I am really behind. Don’t even think I showed anything from the summer yet. I will try to post more over the next little while as I have been sending people here for ideas on outfits:).

Anyway, on to this family. I have not seen them in a couple of years and WOW had their children grown! They are now taller than me…although I have to say, this is becoming very common with my clients now.:) Their eldest is in her last year of high school now! Time flies! It was so great to get to capture them together before she is off! I LOVED the images that we captured at the end when they let their hair down…we always get some awesome portraits of older kids but it gets a lot more difficult to catch real smiles. Love their piggybacks and play fighting:). There are plenty more to come soon!

Lovely ladies05.31.16

We have had to reschedule this session a few times and almost had to again. Thank goodness it all worked out and in such a beautiful location. I had not seen this family in a few years so their girls had changed a lot. It was so amazing to see what lovely ladies they are growing up to be. Thank you guys for pressing through a bit of a chilly afternoon…I love the results!

No worries05.25.16

He was worried he would not be able to pull it off, he was worried that she would not be happy that they were not dressed up, he was worried about the weather (maybe that was just me…the forecast was snow:)…it all did not matter (which was what I told him). I knew she would not care about any of it when she knew what he had done. For 8 months he had been planning this surprise of having me join them at the place where they return every year to celebrate where they got married 10 years ago. This will go down as one of my favourite sessions of all time…not fancy, but so special and so much love. They have been together for 26 years and are still one of the most loving families that I get to work with. It is my pleasure to be able to continually capture their story:).

A decade!03.04.16

So when this mom told me I had been photographing them for 10 years, I had to go back and find a picture. Crazy! It should not shock me how fast time flies as I document this all the time (and see it in my own children) but it still does. I have totally enjoyed doing these portrait sessions…I will be opening up another set of times in April…there will be more about that soon.

I asked if I could share this mom’s words that she had sent me after sending out her gallery because she describes exactly what I am going for with these:). “Oh, Jody…you have done it again! You continue to amaze me with how you capture my children. I don’t even know how to explain it. How you are able to see them in your lens as I see them. Thank you for helping me preserve this moment in time. I am so thankful that I have these moments, from toddler until now. It is incredible, the change that you have captured for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!“. Here are a few of the images of these two:). Oh and the blurry picture was a misfire of the break dancing but I loved it. Can totally see it as an abstract piece of art:).
