Portrait updates03.10.15

I am going to be sharing a few of the portrait updates this week that I have done. I knew I was going to love this project:)! I will also pull a few images from each session so that you can see what it is we are capturing – the sessions are quick but we can get a lot into that time. I have a couple of times remaining in April but this will be the last opportunity for one of these types of sessions for this year. If you are interested in booking updates, please let me know ASAP.

Child Portrait Project02.23.15

This project is something that I have wanted to do for a long time but other things/timing has not made it possible. So I am so excited to finally have all of the pieces put together and am looking forward to capturing your children and their uniqueness as it changes through the years in a plain and simple series of portraits each year for you:). Please contact me at jody@totshots.ca, if you are interested in booking one of these sessions. And yes, I will have these sessions turned around for Mother’s/Father’s Day gifts:).calgary child photography project

Carried away06.23.14

This shoot came about from a vision of an image I wanted to add to my commercial website…well, then I started to make a plan and, well, got carried away.  I always do.  It turned into capturing childhood activities to also being used as potential gifts (shhhh, don’t tell dad if you know him:).  It was one of the most fun shoots that I have had…and I always have fun!  I think that the best part was really just entering these girls world for a bit.  It was a ton of fun.  By the end, we were all jumping through the sprinkler (ok, mom was not as she was not feeling well at all).  J, thank you so much for pushing through…hopefully I at least wore the girls out so you could have a nap:).

Creative itch04.25.14

This time of year always brings about a bit of a creative itch…I think that it is heightened by the fact that I am not working full-time right now.  I am not very good at not working full-time as I have always had a job or 2 from the time that I was 13.  I like to work…it is just in me to work…especially at a job that I adore.  This extra time as a creative always leaves me with pages and pages in my notebook of things that I would like to do or try…then busy season hits or I talk myself out of them.  Well, it is time to get out there and do it.

After a long run (my best and most cohesive planning occurs on my runs), I came home and promptly sent a note to this client to see if I they would allow me to take over their house and use their adorable children as models for my idea.  I have had this concept shoot in my mind since I stopped by their new house to work on art last summer.  The amazing architectural features in their place coupled with their adorable models has had my mind spinning for over 6 months:)  Maybe I have been reading too many Parents magazines or something too:)  When I was visiting, I was fully enamored with their little one making a snack for herself, cheerios and milk being sent everywhere and the theme of “Joyful Chaos” came to mind.  I tend to be too much a control freak and a little too Type A in my own house sometimes so I thoroughly enjoy seeing when parents are awesomely laid back…it inspires me to be moreso.

The images for this shoot will be added to a commercial photography website that I am in the process of launching specializing in children.  It is just an extension of things that I have always done (Cherry Four, Pedalheads, Sportball, Alberta Children’s Hospital,…) but I have decided to split it off to a separate website as the markets are different.  Amazingly enough…when you put stuff out there things start to happen.  I was asked to do a shoot for a Lifestream campaign that I completed this week.  I will share more as I have things up and running.

I know Mom and Dad here have been waiting patiently for a sneak peek, so on to the images.  Thank you so much M family for allowing me to use your gorgeous home and models.  And the pillow shot…yep, got that one in the face so had to include:)calgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographercalgary family photographer

Scheduling02.21.14

The past couple of weeks have been a scheduling frenzy.  I am super excited about the shoots that are coming up this year!  I wanted to post a couple more of the dates for the year.  I will reiterate what I have remaining as well as let you know the new session times that are available moving into the fall…we still need some spring and summer though:).

- April 11-13

- May 23rd

- June 19-22

- August 21-24

- September 19-27 inclusive – only a few sessions remaining

I am still working through the logistics for July but hope to have more information soon.

Thank you to all of the “on the ball” clients that are forcing me to be a better planner:).  Please note, if you are more like me and a little more last minute, please feel free to send me a note and let me know that you are considering a session this year.  We can narrow a date down from there.

One from recently…I am currently in Calgary missing these three…but getting a ton done!:)
