Flood victims | Calgary Family Photographer06.26.13

It has been a week since the flooding and I have been trying to figure out what to say.  My family has not been impacted by the flooding in Alberta but our heart goes out to the people that have been.  Especially the families that have lost loved ones.

A number of my clients and friends were affected by the flooding and I have been in contact with ones that I know live in the flooded areas.    I have assured the families that I know that live in these areas that I still have their images and that I will replace their memories at no charge.  I am going to extend this offer here to my clients in case anyone has moved into an affected area and I did not know. I cannot guarantee that I still have your images but if I have worked with you in the last 4 years, chances are very good that I still have them.  Although seemingly small, pictures would be the first thing that I would worry about if I was in a similar situation.  Earlier this year when threatened with evacuation due to grass fires, my car was filled with hard drives, pictures and mementos from my mum that could not be replaced.  There was nothing of “value” but that car load was priceless to me.

This is one of the families impacted by the flooding and I am still going through their images from our most recent session not even 2 weeks ago.  Although the damage was fairly extensive to their home, they were able to save their photoscalgary family photographer.  If you were not, please contact me.

I have to add that I am so very proud to be Albertan.  To watch all of the acts of generosity and kindness on social media has made me so incredibly proud.  I only wish that I was currently there with my rubber boots to help.

This was better than a movie and pizza | Calgary Family Photographer05.30.13

On my last trip to Calgary, one of my clients had to cancel as I was heading out the door to meet them.  I get fairly jazzed up for each shoot so I had a little creative energy that needed to be released.  What do I do but get on the horn to my studio manager (who had just left the studio about 30 minutes prior) and see if she and her son will meet me for a quick session and dinner.  I knew they were heading home for pizza and movie night and totally did not think that the answer would be “yes”…as there is absolutely NO WAY my children would want to have pictures taken if they had been promised movie and pizza night.  However this was not the case…Cristina’s son was excited to come meet me:)  So off we went location scouting.  Working with these two is ALWAYS a joy.  This little guy LOVES his mama and, of course, the feeling is mutual.  I have said it before but will again…she is one of the most amazing people I know.  She is beautiful inside and out, always positive, such an amazing mom and person, so organized, and she is so cool (she recently went to a surf camp…so cool!).  I am so lucky to have her working with me and representing Tot Shots when I am not there:).  I got a note late that night from her saying that her son said that “this was better than a movie and pizza”.:)  Best compliment ever:)  This first picture is one of my favourites…too sweet how he is stroking her arm:).  Cristina, thank you for all you do!!

Sprouted up | Calgary Family Photographer05.28.13

These little guys are a few months older than my daughter but seemed like they were so much older this time as they have totally sprouted up.  I have worked with them from the time they were 2 – I found a picture in archives and included at the end:).  We always have so much fun at our sessions.  This year we headed to Inglewood on a little urban adventure – always lots to see there and places to explore.  H family, it was great to see you again!!calgary family photographer
