As promised, here are a few pictures from one of the several newborns that I have shot over the last week. This session was a bit of a treat. It is rare that I get the opportunity to shoot newborns with just their mom and not the whole family. Now don’t get me wrong. I love to have the whole family there and to capture the new addition to the family. This was nice though as the new baby got the attention and his relationship with his mom. We will get the chance to capture the new family unit at some time as well but the focus on the little one was really nice. Oh, and for the record…the girls still got to be “involved”…they are the ones that styled his hair. And as you can see…I liked it!

I had to include this picture of this little guy playing with the back of his head. My son does the same thing…yep, still does…ever since he was this small! Love it!Calgary Newborn Photographer21

Here comes the first of many posts for this week.  This is the second time that I have had the pleasure of working with this family and they have a new addition.  Mr “L” is already 5 months old and a dream to photograph.  Smiley, chubby, drooly and cuddly!  The whole family has amazing blue eyes and gorgeous smiles.  D & T it was great to see you again…your boys are adorable!

Gift | Calgary Child Photographer09.16.09

This fantastic session was a birthday gift to this client’s sister (the girls’ auntie). I have had the great pleasure of working with this family on a number of occasions – maternity, newborn, family, generation shots – we have even done shots with auntie before but we had a new little one to include this time.

With the weather being as nice as it has been lately, we had to do some studio shots and then move outside for a few – catch a little flare! It is neat to see each of the girls’ personalities come out. The older daughter is very poised…she seems to have an old soul. Look at those gorgeous eyes. The middle child has a lot of spirit…do I ever love capturing spirit! And the little one seems very analytical…she just watches and studies everyone. He has arrived – Calgary Newborn Photographer09.02.09

Share/Save/Bookmark

I have to start off by saying that I am having trouble finding the words to explain this sneak peek – I will follow that up with the fact that I often have a tough time blogging as writing does not come naturally to me!  Anyway I do my best… This session will go down as one of my favourites.  This client originally inquired about my services in the spring as she and her husband were adopting a baby and she wanted to make sure she liked me and she also wanted to make sure that I would be able to accommodate her on short notice.  Well, fortunately she liked me and yes, of course, I make it work so that I could accommodate her on short notice (the call came this Saturday and I was there Monday and yes, there is already a sneak peek).  I apologize to the families still waiting for a sneak peek:).   It is always an amazing experience to be able to capture a new life but it is particularly special when the parents have had to wait so long for something they wanted so much.  This little boy is so blessed to have arrived into a home where he is so loved.  That love just oozes from the pictures.  This experience on top of my own baby turning 3 a few days ago and my son going off to kindergarten made me very thoughtful on Monday.  A and P congratulations and thank you very much for allowing me to capture this awesome time in your lives.

First of many… – Calgary Family Photography09.02.09

blog posts again this week – okay, so it is now Wed so maybe just a couple more.  I have fallen behind over the last couple of weeks.  With a bunch of commercial projects, client art projects/orders, the beginning of full-day kindergarten for my son, my daughter turning 3 (wow, who knew that these last two would be so emotional for this mom), tons of family in town, coordinating the next social series (details coming!), some summer fun and of course, some awesome family sessions with returning and new clients. I am going to do my very best this week to get back on top of everything and to share what has been going on here.  I keep telling clients that are booking to check my blog for my latest work and I have been so behind with actually getting something up here!  Not sure that this will change for the next 3-4 months!

The first family to grace my blog this week is a client that I have gotten to see each year for the last few years.  I am extremely appreciative of all of the amazing families that come and see me each year.  I love watching your families grow and change each year!  This week again, I have been reminded as to how quickly time flies and your children grow up.  It is really neat to get the opportunity to capture this for others.  Thank you!  R Family, it was so great to see you again.  You girls are gorgeous and a blast to shoot!
