This session was supposed to be just of the little girl rather than family pictures this time. Well, the little one decided that her mom and dad needed to be in the pictures too. So, of course, we got a bunch of her on her own but I loved the interaction pictures so much that I share a few. C & S, it was great to see you again…L is adorable. We captured a bunch of her cute tricks;)

I am off for a weekend away…without my computer this time – whoa! I will have limited access to email and so if you do not hear back from me, you will early next week. Happy Canada Day and Fourth of July for some of you!

Extended Family Session | Calgary Family Photographer

You will recognize this client from the opening page of my website. These first three have been clients since the little one was 2. Not only have I had the opportunity to update their portraits but they have also been involved in photo shoots for Cherry Four. Well, this time their mom asked me to do an extended family session for them. Part of the reason for the session was that one of the mother’s girlfriend’s father-in-laws, who is also a client (did you get all that) passed away suddenly. Fortunately I had done an extended family session for them just prior to him getting sick. The pictures were very precious to be able to look back on. So a discussion of that client’s situation made this client feel that this was important. I am honoured that they trusted me to do this session for them to capture their family and to preserve their memories. Thank you – it was so fantastic to work with all of you. I hope you had a blast despite the OVERWHELMING number of mosquitoes!

Yep, this session oozes it! This is one of my FAVOURITE families to shoot. I have been privileged enough to be documenting their lives for many years now. They are so in LOVE as a couple, which of course, flows right over into their girls. It is an absolute pleasure to work with a family like this (and not only because it makes my job easy) but it makes me feel special that I get to do this job. This is exactly what I want to do everyday!

We decided to do a studio/location session so we could take advantage of the gorgeous weather and the beautiful, mature trees in Garrison Green. I love having access to this park!

This next series cracks me up!

So in the middle of shooting mom and dad, the little one snuck in…they always want to be in the shot if they are not supposed to be;)

This the final session for one of my Watch Me Grow clients. It is amazing how quickly a year flies and how much these babies change. I am honoured to be able to capture the milestones for this clients.

This little guy’s 1st birthday party is tomorrow so I wanted to have a little sneak peek up for mom. I am also heading into a birthday weekend for my son;) I can’t even believe he is turning 6! I will have more on that next week.

R & R, here is a little peek. I will have the rest up early next week. Hope that C’s party is a blast!

This family has the biggest smiles! This is the second time this year that I have had the pleasure of working with them. We had planned a studio/outdoor session but Calgary weather has not been cooperating. So we did the studio portion first and then met a few days later when the weather improved. I am glad that we had the opportunity to get outside…I think that I have been feeling a little cooped up lately;) The little guy is at the age of just wanting to move so it was really fun to get out and let him roam around. L & R, it was a pleasure working with you again. I will have the rest up soon.

I got the opportunity to meet this little guy and his mom and dad last week for his 6 month photo shoot. I was hoping to have a few pictures up for this dad’s first Father’s Day but it did not happen. So Happy Belated Father’s Day. The little guy is at a super fun age…sitting up, interactive and still had lots of rolls! So cute!

Summer sessions | Calgary Child Photographer

I had to share one of this client. The family has been to visit me many times but it had been a couple years since we have done an update. The girls are gorgeous and the family is awesome to work with. I will share more from this shoot but just one for now.

Summer sessions are almost completely booked and I will be starting to book for the fall soon (it makes me a bit sad to say that as it feels like summer is going to be short here in Calgary). Please let me know if you would like to take advantage of the summer sessions and we can get outside and enjoy the summer while we have it;)

Sunshine | Calgary Children’s Photographer

A little more sunshine from last weekend’s sessions. These girls were a pleasure to shoot. I have shot the whole family in the past but this time got the opportunity to update the girls portraits. They are so well-behaved and adorable! Love their beautiful, colourful outfits! I was so happy to hear their mom had gone out to purchase a DSLR after my last social series so that she can start to really capture all of the girls’ events (without the delay of a point and shoot).

June has been incredibly busy and I promise to try to share as many sessions as I can but I am also trying to get as much volunteering in at my son’s school as I can. In addition to 4 nights a week of their soccer (and a couple nights a week minimum of my own)…needless to say a bit busy. I am looking forward to July and the children’s schedules slowing down…I think they are too;)

of the gorgeous weather we had this past weekend in Calgary. It was beautiful and it was so nice to be out. This is a client that you have seen a few times. We did a couple of shots in the studio but then decided to move outside this time. I am so glad that we did as this family has awesome energy and amazing love for each other – it was a great way to capture it. It was amazing how much the little one, in particular, had changed – the gorgeous blond curls! Mom even mentioned to me on the way back to the studio that she wished she had done a shoot in between this one and the last – life does get busy, doesn’t it? R and S it was so fun to get outside and play…and to take advantage of the gorgeous green grass that I knew was coming;)

The big 4-0 |Calgary Photographer

My husband turns 40 next month. I probably would not typically blog about it and I definitely would not if I thought that it bothered him. But I know it doesn’t and since I tweeted about the engineer’s dream of a gift with “some assembly required”, I figured I would at least follow up with a picture. One day I will join the rest of the world and get an iPhone and be able to easily share on the fly (but being the practical girl I am, I will be waiting until the contract of my bb is complete;).

So the story behind the gift…we have never really been “gift” people. Probably goes along with the fact that we are both fairly practical but also minimalist. This is a little different though, when you hit a big milestone there feels like there is a bit of an expectation. So I have been soliciting his friends and golf buddies to see if there was a club that he needed. Well, it seems that there has been a “need” for them some time in the past as he has all of them. So I was at a bit of a loss…and mentioned it one day. He answers rather quickly with “there is the bike I have been looking at and it is on sale right now”. Sweet! Shopping done! So the friendly neighbourhood UPS guy arrives last Friday with the gift a month early and I, fortunately, had a GNO planned so that I did not have to be part of the assembly process;) So here is the new cruiser…not the motorized kind that he would really like but the family friendly, get some exercise kind. Don’t ask me anything else about it because despite being shown the website and video and hearing about it for a week or so, I still can’t tell you anything about it or why he needed it?!? Happy Birthday Honey…I know you love it. I just may have to find a beanie helmet because the mountain biking one looks goofy – ah, Father’s Day!

There is no doubt that it will be well used as we are out biking as a family every opportunity we have…here is everyone else geared up. All I ever see is my son’s dust so thought that this was fitting.
