This family recently welcomed a girl into their busy boy household. The boys were so gentle and loving with their new sister. We had a ton of fun during the session and got some great shots. Then the boys went off to the park and I had some time with their new sister. She was a pleasure to work with snuggled in mom’s arms:) J and S, it was a pleasure to meet you. Spring must be in the air as I have had a ton of newborns lately:) I have been behind with sharing and I apologize and will try to get back to regular posting as of next week. I did not want to end the week without sharing a few of this adorable little guy and his sweet sister:) I have had the opportunity of working with the girls of this family in the past but it was the first time meeting the boys. It was such a pleasure working with them. We caught some awesome moments. As I get through more of their images, I will have to share some of the little girl breakin’ down to Bieber! Adorable! I am so excited to begin another year (Watch Me Grow package) with this family. You have seen them many times on my blog and in my galleries. I will have to add a few of these new ones to my galleries:) This is the first of 5 shoots that we will be doing with this family over the course of this year to coincide with what we did for big sister. This little one (her newborn photos now grace the walls of the studio) has been an absolute pleasure to work with all year. She is so adorable and animated! I can’t even believe how fast this year has flown! It has been fantastic capturing these milestones for this family. T and G, I hope that P had an awesome first birthday!! I will have the rest of the gallery up soon…I hope. On that note, I am having system issues so if you are waiting for a gallery from me, it will be a bit longer. Sorry!

Sweet baby boy | Calgary Newborn Photographer

One of the first questions that I got asked from this new mom was “What if he cries…and we can’t get him to stop?” I thought that it was so cute, first because he was not crying and second, it took me back to when I was a new parent. I quickly reassured her and we had a wonderful session. I did have to include one “upset” picture though.

The dad is an owner of Booster Juice shops in town and so if you are looking for good smoothies, as discussed in the previous post, head over there;)

Birthday Baby | Calgary Baby Photographer

This the final session for one of my Watch Me Grow clients. It is amazing how quickly a year flies and how much these babies change. I am honoured to be able to capture the milestones for this clients.

This little guy’s 1st birthday party is tomorrow so I wanted to have a little sneak peek up for mom. I am also heading into a birthday weekend for my son;) I can’t even believe he is turning 6! I will have more on that next week.

Happy Belated Father’s Day | Calgary Baby Photographer

I got the opportunity to meet this little guy and his mom and dad last week for his 6 month photo shoot. I was hoping to have a few pictures up for this dad’s first Father’s Day but it did not happen. So Happy Belated Father’s Day. The little guy is at a super fun age…sitting up, interactive and still had lots of rolls! So cute!

New art | Calgary Baby Photographer

So in the midst of changing my logo out, I had to change out one of the large art pieces that I had in the entrance to the studio. Since it was a large piece of canvas, I thought about having the logo trimmed off and having it re-wrapped but I also thought that it would be a great memory to keep and it would allow me to start to fill the walls in my own house;) I also decided not to because as I was working with a new vendor for the display for Cherry Four, I fell in love with a sample they had. So I had this 30×40 mounted on a rounded piece of steel. STUNNING! Last year a few client were asking for something new and different and this fits this criteria well. I have a few more things in the works and will share as I get them completed.

Part 2 |Calgary Maternity Photographer

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I would have a second post with the natural light shots. This helps to show the difference. Now you are going to ask, which do I prefer? I love both and both are very different. I love the simplicity that studio lighting shots offer – I like that they are clean and simple. I like that studio lighting stops the action of little ones. I was always a lover of fashion photography – growing up I had magazine ads posted all over my walls. There is something about a crisp clean catch light that gets me;)

However in the natural light shots, you will get a narrow depth of field (because I tend to shoot wide open – with a small f-stop for those that came last week) thus allowing you to tell a story about what you are focusing on, you can get some awesome shadows that again allow you to focus on the portion of the picture that is lit and you can also show some motion (when appropriate).

Time permitting, I will typically do a combination of both in a session.

I am just beginning the second Watch Me Grow package with this family’s maternity session. They have been featured on my blog many times and are presented on a few pieces of art in the studio. Their love for each other shines through in every photo and I LOVE working with them. I am so excited to see Miss L as a big sister and just as dad is…I am very excited to see the tattoo that will come with the new little one! I am going to post more from this session because we did some studio lighting ones and natural light. Natural light ones will be posted tomorrow…I thought it might be overwhelming all in one post and I am still working through them;)
