Photographer challenge – Calgary photographer

So it was round 2 of the photographer challenge this past weekend and the topic was Self Portrait.  I was not certain if I was going to participate…as I am sure most photographers can relate…we are more comfortable on the other side!  It is extremely hard to take a self portrait and have it really show what you want to capture.  I pride myself on being able to capture moments for everyone that I shoot but it is extremely hard to be on that side of the camera and capture what you want without feeling like a goofball!  Anyway, I decided to try to take a picture after my session on Saturday as I had wanted to try play around with flare in the studio.  So that is the first picture.  The next picture was taken on a road trip yesterday as we were heading out to a U-pick strawberry farm for the morning – super fun BTW!  This one is how a lot of people have to look at me/my camera.  The story on the last picture is that I have been wanting to take a new picture for my website (my hair has been short for six months now).  However, it seems that 10pm Sunday night after spending the day in the sun with two young children is maybe not the best time to capture my authentic self or maybe it is!  Yep, I was tired and could not even muster up a fake smile – you would have known it was fake anyway.  So this will not be the picture for my website…fortunately clients do not have to see me at 10pm.  I do however like the light and will try this with my children and myself to try to get the new picture for my website.
