Birthday session12.29.15

I have been so terrible at blogging this year but I had to go back and share this session from early November. I traveled to AZ to take underwater images of this swimmer as a birthday gift from her parents. I could not be more excited about this session as it is the daughter of a good friend (and my daughter and I got to enjoy a fantastic visit with them for a few days) but also capturing someone with the same childhood sport that I had, was super fun!:). I was on the swim team as a child so love that we could get some cool images for her…apparently there are not a lot of “swim photographers” out there:). I am super excited about the art piece that is going along with this session and will share when it is complete:).

Blink11.18.15

In the blink of an eye…this happens! These are good friends of ours…I shoot a similar shot for them every November…there is a big change every year but this year seemed even more so!! Probably since their son is now taller than all of us:). I thought I would go back to one of the first for a bit of a comparison. AMAZING! This is not the shot we used in 2007 (because you will notice there are shoes missing…and nobody was running home for them…this time:) but I wanted to use this shot because they were standing. Might I add, that they have not only grown into gorgeous young people on the outside but they are on the inside as well:).

It is so amazing to watch clients and friends change each year. I am so thankful to have this job!

That time of year11.16.15

It is that time of year when I get really behind and this year seems to be even worse as I have taken a couple of extra things on…right in the middle of busy season. One of them has been a DSLR video class that I took in October. When I read about it, I saw self-paced and online, which I interpreted as something I could purchase and check out a few things that I wanted for an upcoming project and then really look at in Dec/Jan. Well that was not the case, there were deadlines…which was really good in the end as it did keep me moving through the course. Anyway I had an absolute blast doing this class and see this being a great way to document my family and hopefully can put together something for other families once I have had a couple more trial runs to determine the process that works best for me. I thought that I would share my final project here documenting what our October looked like.

I have had the pleasure of working with this family a few times, however we have never shot in their extended backyard…amazing!! The park that they back on to is so much fun and absolutely stunning. Lucky girls to grow up there!!

My ears!!10.09.15

Every year for last 7 years I have been able to capture this family together (in 13 sessions…I think:). I cannot describe in words how amazing their relationships are but am so very thankful that I can put into images each year their love for each other. And this year’s favourite image might be the one where the girls are protesting their dad’s singing…the same thing happens in my house! I might have overshot the session a bit and pulled a little recap of what has been going on this year for them…girls as best friends, blistered hands, and many other tricks that they wanted to show me.
