Making Memories – Calgary Children Photographer

This is a phrase that a few girlfriends and I have been using this summer (the phrase is borrowed from a tv show that I don’t watch).  As I mentioned earlier in the summer, I have only been taking a set number of clients each week to ensure that I have more time to spend with my children before my son starts attending full days this September and before my insanely busy season.  So we have been doing a ton of fun things.  A few weeks ago we went to the bird sanctuary.  It is a very nice peaceful place.  I think that the three of us shook the place up a bit – I am not sure if quiet and peaceful is in my 5 and almost 3 year olds vocabulary.  Anyway, we did not see many birds – might have scared them off.  We did, however, have a deer follow us along the path (so we are not that noisy).  We also found that the bird sanctuary is right in the middle of a flight path on the way to the airport and it seems that my children may share my husband’s love of planes more than birds.

There have also been plenty of trips to Stanley Park to wade in the water, playdates, trips to the zoo and bbqs with friends.

Last weekend I decided to continue the “making memories” theme and sought out a U-pick farm so that we could go pick strawberries so that I could attempt to make strawberry jam like my mum use to.  It seems that a ton of others had the same idea so we ended up waiting in line for the majority of the trip (my husband was not loving my summer theme that day).  The children and I still had a blast (my husband is still working on process improvements for the farm).  It was really neat to watch my children at the farm and then to sit at the dinner table and listen to them decide who had picked each of the berries as they snarfed them down.  I have not attempted the jam part yet but I am sure they will think that is pretty cool too.  I am sure the “cool” factor will not last for many more years…I do recall not loving helping my mum with her tasks.  Anyway, here are a few of the pictures from the day.  My children showed so much restraint in not eating all of the berries while we were in line – very proud!  So there are pictures of them smelling them, choosing which ones they were going to eat once we paid, deciding which they had picked,…
I promise to re-focus my blog back to client work!  I have a few from last weekend to share and there are a bunch from this week!  Have a great weekend “making memories”!!
