Greatest pleasures

Today is/was my mum's birthday so I feel the need to honour her with pictures of one of her greatest pleasures with my greatest pleasures – my children, my love of photography and the ability to capture what I love the most!  If you follow my website or blog, you will know that I lost my mum last year to cancer.  I took these pictures a week or two ago after being inspired on Flickr by another photographer.  Flickr is a social networking/inspiration tool for photographers.  This photographer had pictures of her children's feet at the park and was trying to capture one of the last years of those chubby little toes.  I had to laugh because my children have spent the entire summer with "naked feet" at the park.  The reason for naked feet is to get better grip on the slide as you climb it.  Now being the neat freak that I am, I spent the first part of the summer trying to get them to put their socks and shoes back on.  I did finally give up trying (only after attempting and failing to climb the slide in my shoes).  I then finally realized that the summer was coming to a close and I did not have any pictures of "naked feet" (I do not take my camera to the park very often as I get told off by my children to stop working!).  So these pictures are for my mum – sort of.  They are not the types of pictures that she would totally appreciate as she would have preferred a standard head to toe portrait however she would have loved the fact that her grandchildren were having a ton of fun and that her daughter had the flexibility in her job to get to enjoy these times with her children!  And I am just glad that I lightened up (and emerged from the fog) enough this summer to realize how much fun "naked feet" can be and captured some memorable summer moments.  Sorry my blog turned into a personal journal today but hey, we all have weak moments!

And the dog, well he was my first "child" and I LOVE the pleasure that he is getting from itching his nose in the grass that we finally have now that the landscaping is complete!
